A wedding can produce 5,000 photos. A college fest, 20,000. Each guest cares about a few dozen of them. With Pics, a guest takes a selfie and sees only the photos they’re in, then adds family and friends to find theirs too.

A drive link or a gallery gives everyone the same thing: every photo, in upload order. Guests scroll for a while, give up, and ask the photographer to send “the ones with us”. Pics changes the question from “where are my photos?” to “here are your photos”.

Recognising faces is what makes Pics useful, so it has to be handled carefully. The organiser decides whether face search is available, and each guest decides whether to use it.

A selfie is only taken when a guest asks to find their photos. They can browse the whole gallery without one.

Turn face search off, limit downloads, close the gallery on a date, and delete an event’s face data when it ends.
